Learners should hold a current ECS Gold Card issued by JIB or SJIB for Installation Electrician, Approved Electrician, Maintenance Electrician or Domestic Electrician to enrol on the course.
The course can be completed in 2 days and is available through online and classroom training options. The training is delivered by experienced industry experts and provides hands-on guidance and in-depth knowledge to help you develop the skills required for EV charger Installation.
The course is assessed through practical tasks and an online assessment. Learners are required to demonstrate their skills under the assessor’s direct observation. To cover the theoretical assessment, learners have to take an online, computer-based exam. It is an open-book assessment, and learners are allowed to use the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation during the test.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements for the Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points. You will also gain knowledge and practical understanding of EV charging installation requirements for domestic and small commercial settings.
