In-house training: Host the course at your workplace for a group of employees.
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher — sometimes called the FAW Requalification — is a 2-day course designed for people whose FAW certificate is nearing its expiry date. By completing the First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Merthyr Tydfil, you can renew your Level 3 FAW qualification for a further three years.
Instead of repeating the full three-day programme, this refresher concentrates on updating your knowledge and giving you time to practise key first aid skills under the guidance of an assessor. It also helps you stay aligned with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) expectations for workplace first aiders.
This 2-day First Aid at Work renewal course is only available to learners who already hold a valid FAW certificate. To avoid having to retake the full 3-day First Aid at Work course, it’s best to secure your place before your current qualification expires.
A 28-day grace period usually applies after expiry. If your certificate has been expired for longer than this, you’ll need to complete the full FAW course again.
On the first day of training, you’ll also be asked to bring evidence of your current or recently expired FAW certificate.
On the FAW Requalification in Merthyr Tydfil, you’ll work back through the full First Aid at Work syllabus to make sure your knowledge is current and your certificate stays valid. Across two days, you’ll revisit the core skills expected of workplace first aiders and practise them in a supportive setting.
The First Aid at Work Refresher in Merthyr Tydfil is assessed through practical demonstrations, trainer observation, and a short multiple-choice test. This approach confirms you can apply the skills you’ve refreshed during the course in real workplace situations.
On successful completion, you will receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for another three years and fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
It’s easy to confuse the annual refresher with the First Aid at Work Requalification. An annual refresher is a short session to practise and maintain confidence each year. It’s helpful, but it does not renew your certificate.
If your qualification is due to expire, you’ll need the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the formal renewal route that extends your First Aid at Work certificate for a further three years.
This 2-day FAW Refresher is designed for appointed first aiders in medium- to high-risk workplaces — including construction sites, factories, warehouses, and larger office settings. It’s ideal for anyone who needs to keep their qualification current and continue meeting HSE expectations for workplace first aid provision.
If you have several staff who need to renew their FAW qualification, arranging on-site training at your workplace can be the simplest option. An accredited trainer can deliver the full 2-day requalification course at your premises, allowing your team to update essential skills together with minimal disruption.
On-site training offers several benefits:
