In-house training: Host the course at your workplace for a group of employees.
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, also known as the FAW Requalification, is a 2-day training course for people whose FAW certificate is due to expire. By completing this First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Aberdeen, you can renew your Level 3 FAW qualification for another three years.
Unlike the full three-day programme, this refresher focuses on updating your knowledge and providing you with the opportunity to practise essential skills under the supervision of an assessor. It also keeps you fully compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
This 2-day First Aid at Work renewal course is only open to learners who already hold a valid FAW certificate. You should book your place before your current qualification expires to avoid having to retake the full 3-day First Aid at Work course.
There is a 28-day grace period after expiry. If your certificate has lapsed longer than this, you’ll need to restart with the full FAW course.
To attend the course, you’ll also need to bring proof of your current or recently expired FAW certificate on the first day of training.
By joining the FAW Requalification in Aberdeen, you’ll cover the complete First Aid at Work syllabus again — ensuring your knowledge is up to date and your certificate remains valid. Over two days, you will practise the essential skills every workplace first aider needs.
The First Aid at Work Refresher in Aberdeen is assessed through a mix of practical demonstrations, trainer observation, and a short multiple-choice test. This ensures you can confidently apply the skills you’ve refreshed during the course.
On successful completion, you will receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for another three years and fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
It’s common to mix up the annual refresher with the First Aid at Work Requalification. The annual refresher is just a short course that helps you practise your skills once a year. It’s useful, but it won’t renew your certificate.
If your certificate is expiring, you will need to complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the only course that formally renews your First Aid at Work qualification for a period of three years.
This 2-day FAW Refresher is designed for appointed first aiders in medium- to high-risk workplaces, such as construction sites, factories, warehouses, and large offices. It’s designed for those who need to keep their qualification up to date and remain compliant with HSE requirements.
If you have several staff who need to renew their FAW qualification, it may be more convenient to arrange on-site training at your own workplace. An accredited trainer can deliver the full 2-day requalification course at your premises, allowing your team to update their skills together.
On-site training offers several benefits:
The Aberdeen training venue is centrally located, making it easy for first aiders who need to renew their FAW certificate to attend the 2-day course with minimal disruption. The venue is accessible by public transport, with nearby train and bus connections, and parking is available for those travelling by car.
Learners regularly join us not just from Aberdeen itself but also from surrounding towns, including Dyce, Bridge of Don, Westhill, Portlethen, Stonehaven, Ellon, and Inverurie.
