What Is the First Aid at Work Refresher (Requalification)?
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, or FAW Requalification, is a 2-day course designed for individuals whose FAW certificate is approaching its expiration date. This First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Croydon enables you to extend your Level 3 FAW qualification for an additional three years.
Unlike the full three-day course, this refresher is focused on updating your knowledge and offering hands-on practice with essential first aid skills, under the guidance of an assessor. It also ensures you remain compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards.
✅ You are eligible for this course if you still hold a valid FAW certificate or are within the 28-day grace period after expiry.
Eligibility & When to Book
This 2-day First Aid at Work renewal course is available only to individuals who already hold a valid FAW certificate. It is recommended to book your place before your qualification expires to avoid the need to retake the full 3-day First Aid at Work course.
If your certificate has expired, there is a 28-day grace period. If more time has passed, you will need to start again with the full FAW course.
When attending, please bring proof of your current or recently expired FAW certificate on the first day of the course.
What Will You Refresh/Practise During the Course?
By participating in the FAW Requalification in Croydon, you will revisit the entire First Aid at Work syllabus, ensuring that your knowledge is up-to-date and your certification remains valid. Over the two days, you'll focus on practising the critical skills required for any workplace first aider.
- Understanding first aider responsibilities and infection control
- Scene surveys and casualty assessment
- Adult CPR and AED practice
- Recovery position and seizure management
- First aid for choking and severe bleeding
- Treating shock, burns, scalds, and minor injuries
- Managing fractures, head, spinal, and chest injuries
- Care for eye injuries and suspected poisoning
- Recognising and treating anaphylaxis with auto-injectors
- Responding to heart attacks, strokes, epilepsy, asthma, and diabetes
Assessment & Certification
The First Aid at Work Refresher course in Croydon is assessed through a combination of practical demonstrations, trainer observation, and a short multiple-choice test. This ensures that you can confidently apply the skills you’ve refreshed during the course and are ready for real-world workplace situations.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for another three years and fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Annual Refresher vs This 2-Day FAW Requalification
It’s easy to confuse the annual refresher with the First Aid at Work Requalification. The annual refresher is a short course designed to help you practise your skills each year. While it’s useful for maintaining your skills, it will not renew your certificate.
If your certificate is expiring, you’ll need to complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the only course that formally renews your First Aid at Work qualification for a further three years.
Who Is the Course For?
This 2-day FAW Refresher course is intended for appointed first aiders in medium- to high-risk workplaces, such as construction sites, factories, warehouses, and large offices. It’s ideal for those who need to ensure their qualification remains current and comply with HSE requirements.

- ✓ Flexible dates and times tailored to your schedule
