What Is the First Aid at Work Refresher (Requalification)?
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher course, also known as the FAW Requalification, is a two-day programme for individuals whose FAW certification is nearing its expiry. By completing the First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Preston, you will extend your Level 3 FAW qualification for an additional three years.
Unlike the full three-day First Aid at Work course, this refresher focuses on revisiting key knowledge and allows you to rehearse vital skills under the guidance of a qualified assessor. It also ensures you remain compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards.
✅ You are eligible to take this course if your FAW certificate is still valid or within the short grace period post-expiry (usually up to 28 days).
Eligibility & When to Book
This two-day First Aid at Work renewal course is available exclusively to individuals who currently hold a valid FAW certificate. To avoid having to take the full three-day course, we recommend booking your place before your existing qualification expires.
A grace period of 28 days is provided after the expiry date. Should your certificate expire beyond this period, you will be required to enrol in the full FAW course again.
On the first day of your training, make sure to bring along your valid or recently expired FAW certificate as proof of eligibility.
What Will You Refresh/Practice During the Course?
By enrolling in the FAW Requalification course in Preston, you will revisit the entire First Aid at Work syllabus, ensuring that your skills and knowledge are current. Over two days, you'll get hands-on practice with the vital first aid techniques every workplace first aider needs.

- Providing first aid for choking, severe bleeding, and shock
- Administering CPR and using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

Assessment & Certification
The FAW Refresher course in Preston is assessed through a combination of practical exercises, instructor evaluation, and a brief multiple-choice test. This assessment ensures you can effectively demonstrate the skills you’ve practised during the training.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three more years and fully accredited by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Annual Refresher vs This 2-Day FAW Requalification
Many people confuse the annual refresher with the First Aid at Work Requalification course. The yearly refresher is a short training session to help you keep your skills sharp. While beneficial, it does not renew your qualification.
If your certificate is nearing expiry, you must complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This course is the only official way to extend your First Aid at Work qualification for another three years.
Who Is the Course For?
This 2-day FAW Refresher course is tailored for designated first aiders working in medium- to high-risk environments such as construction sites, warehouses, factories, and large offices. It’s ideal for individuals who need to renew their qualification and maintain compliance with HSE regulations.
