In-house training: Host the course at your workplace for a group of employees.
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, also known as the FAW Requalification, is a 2-day training course designed for individuals whose FAW certificate is close to expiring. By completing this First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Kirkcaldy, you can renew your Level 3 FAW qualification for a further three years.
Unlike the full three-day course, this refresher focuses on updating your existing knowledge and giving you the opportunity to practise key first aid skills under the guidance of an accredited trainer. It also ensures that your certification remains fully compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
This 2-day First Aid at Work renewal course is only available to learners who already hold a valid FAW certificate. It’s recommended that you book before your current qualification expires so you don’t need to complete the full three-day First Aid at Work course again.
There is a short grace period of up to 28 days after your certificate expires. If it has lapsed for longer than this, you will need to retake the full FAW qualification.
To attend the course, you will need to bring proof of your current or recently expired FAW certificate on the first day of training.
By joining the FAW Requalification in Kirkcaldy, you will revisit the full First Aid at Work syllabus to ensure your knowledge remains current and your certification valid. Over the two days, you will practise the essential skills expected of workplace first aiders.
The First Aid at Work Refresher in Kirkcaldy is assessed through practical demonstrations, trainer observation, and a short multiple-choice test. This ensures learners can confidently apply the skills they have refreshed throughout the course.
On successful completion, you will receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate that is valid for another three years and fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The annual refresher is sometimes confused with the First Aid at Work Requalification. The annual refresher is a shorter course designed to help first aiders practise their skills each year, but it does not renew the qualification.
If your FAW certificate is approaching expiry, you must complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification). This is the course that formally renews your First Aid at Work certification for a further three years.
This 2-day FAW Refresher is intended for appointed workplace first aiders working in medium- to high-risk environments such as construction sites, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and large offices. It ensures they keep their qualification up to date and remain compliant with HSE requirements.
If multiple employees need to renew their FAW qualification, organising on-site training at your workplace can be the most convenient option. An accredited trainer can deliver the full two-day requalification course at your premises, allowing your team to refresh their skills together.
On-site training offers several benefits:
The Kirkcaldy training venue is centrally located, making it easy for learners to attend the 2-day FAW refresher with minimal disruption. The venue is accessible by public transport, with nearby rail and bus links, and parking available for those travelling by car.
Learners regularly attend not only from Kirkcaldy but also from surrounding towns including Glenrothes, Dysart, Methil, Leven, Burntisland, Kinghorn, and Cowdenbeath. Many businesses across Fife choose the Kirkcaldy venue as a convenient location for staff renewing their FAW qualification.
