The skills are designed and delivered in line with the home office approved techniques and aim to use minimum force. By completing this course with us candidates are able to deliver the Level 2 Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry programme through any approved Awarding Body that offers the SIA suite of qualifications.


 

Ideal for SIA instructors who wish to deliver the Level 2 Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry programme as part of the Door Supervision or Upskilling courses through any of the following Awarding Bodies: HABC, IQ, EDI, Trident Awards, Ed excel, NOCN, BIIAB, City & Guilds etc.

Entry Requirements 

The entry requirements for this course are:

  • hold a teaching or training qualification at level 3 or above
  • hold a Level 3 qualification in delivering conflict management training
  • hold a Level 3 qualification in delivering physical intervention training

What you will learn

  • Understand physical interventions and the legal/professional implications of their use
  • Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
  • Use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others
  • Use non-pain related standing, holding and escorting techniques, including non-restrictive and restrictive skills
  • Understand good practice to follow after physical interventions

Areas Covered

In this topic, you will learn the legal and professional implications of using physical intervention, the positive alternatives to using physical intervention and the difference between defensive physical skills and physical interventions.

Frequently Asked Questions

The licence that is issued at the end of the course is accepted by the SIA. By completing the course, the candidates are able to deliver the Level 2 Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry programme through any approved Awarding Body that offers the SIA suite of qualifications.

Successful candidates will receive an e-certificate, this qualification can be used to teach the Level 2 Physical Intervention unit the Door Supervision course.

The certificate will be valid for one year. Successful candidates will receive a certificate and licence to teach our physical intervention model, which will have to be renewed yearly.

There will be a practical assessment of the skills that have been taught to you.

By completing this course with us, candidates will also receive a trainer pack which includes the following:

Physical Intervention Refresher is when you do an annual refresher of the same Physical Intervention Skills Program that you did before, and we will go over the Hurak model with you to refresh your knowledge of the PI skills.

Crossover Training is when you choose a different PI model with a different training provider and book the course to learn a new set of PI moves.

You will receive your certificate on the same day, after you have finished the training.
