Who is this course for?

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is designed for individuals who have a responsibility for providing first aid in the workplace or those who wish to acquire essential first aid skills.

The course is suitable for a wide range of industries and work environments, including offices, retail settings, construction sites, manufacturing facilities, hospitality establishments, and more.

How much time is required to complete this course?

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course can typically be completed within a single day. This condensed timeframe allows participants to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills efficiently, without significant disruption to their work schedules.

During the one-day course, participants will engage in a combination of theoretical instruction, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises. Expert instructors will guide them through various emergency scenarios, ensuring they gain practical experience and build confidence in their ability to respond effectively.

How will this course be assessed?

The EFAW course will be assessed through a practical assessment. The assessment takes place during the class, eliminating the need for a final exam. Successful completion simply requires attentive adherence to the course content and the ability to effectively demonstrate the acquired knowledge and skills on the same day.

Practical Assessment:
Participants are assessed on their ability to apply first aid skills in practical scenarios. Trained instructors observe participants as they demonstrate techniques like CPR, the use of AEDs, management of bleeding or shock, and other relevant first aid procedures. They provide feedback, and guidance, and evaluate participants' competency in applying correct procedures effectively.

The aim of these assessments is to ensure that participants are capable of responding appropriately and confidently during real-life emergency situations.

For what kind of workplaces EFAW training is suitable?

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is specifically tailored for low-risk workplaces, including offices and smaller retail stores. It equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills to handle emergency situations effectively within these environments.

However, for high-risk workplaces such as factories, construction sites, and warehouses, it is advisable to have professionals trained in the more comprehensive First Aid at Work qualification to ensure a higher level of security and preparedness.

How long does EFAW last?

Upon successful completion of the EFAW course, participants are awarded the EFAW qualification, which remains valid for a period of three years. This means that individuals can confidently apply their acquired knowledge and skills in the workplace during emergencies for the duration of the qualification.

However, it’s important to note that after the three-year period, the qualification will require renewal to ensure that individuals stay up to date with any changes in best practices, guidelines, or protocols in the field of first aid. Renewal courses provide an opportunity to refresh knowledge, reinforce skills, and stay current with the latest advancements in emergency first aid.

Emergency First Aid at Work Course Certification

On successful completion of the EFAW course, you will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate & Photo ID Card. The certificate is valid for three years and must be renewed if you wish to continue to act as a first aider in the workplace.
