The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, also referred to as the FAW Requalification, is a 2-day training course designed for individuals whose FAW certification is approaching expiration. Completing this refresher course in Pembrokeshire will enable you to extend your Level 3 FAW qualification for an additional three years.
In contrast to the full three-day programme, this refresher course focuses on revisiting key knowledge and allowing you to practise critical skills with the guidance of an assessor. This ensures you remain compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
This 2-day First Aid at Work Refresher course is available exclusively to individuals who currently hold a valid FAW certificate. It’s best to secure your place before your existing qualification expires to avoid the need to complete the full 3-day First Aid at Work programme.
A 28-day grace period is provided after the expiry date. If your certificate has expired for longer than this period, you will be required to enrol in the complete FAW course again.
On the first day of the course, please bring along your valid or recently expired FAW certificate as proof of eligibility to attend the refresher training.
By enrolling in the FAW Refresher Course in Pembrokeshire, you’ll revisit the entire First Aid at Work syllabus. This will ensure your skills are current, and your certificate stays valid. Over the two days of training, you'll get the chance to rehearse key first aid techniques every workplace first aider should know.
The assessment for the First Aid at Work Refresher in Pembrokeshire consists of practical demonstrations, trainer-led observations, and a brief multiple-choice quiz. This process ensures you can confidently use the skills you've practised during the course in real-life situations.
Upon successful completion, you will receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, which remains valid for another three years and is fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Many people confuse the annual refresher with the First Aid at Work Requalification. The annual refresher is a short session to help you practise your skills, but it does not extend the validity of your certificate.
If your certificate is nearing expiry, you must complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the only course that formally renews your First Aid at Work qualification for an additional three years.
The 2-day FAW Refresher course is aimed at designated first aiders working in medium- to high-risk environments, such as construction sites, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and large office spaces. It is intended for individuals who need to keep their qualification current and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
If you have a team that needs to renew their FAW qualifications, arranging on-site training at your workplace in Pembrokeshire could be a more efficient option. An accredited trainer will conduct the full 2-day requalification course on your premises, allowing your staff to refresh their skills together in a familiar environment.
On-site training provides a number of advantages:
The Pembrokeshire training venue is centrally situated, ensuring that first aiders who need to renew their FAW certificate can attend the 2-day course with minimal disruption. The venue is easily accessible by public transport, with nearby train and bus connections, and there is ample parking available for those travelling by car.
Learners regularly attend from not just Pembrokeshire itself but also from nearby areas, including Haverfordwest, Milford Haven, Pembroke Dock, Narberth, Tenby, and Fishguard. Many workplaces in these areas choose the Pembrokeshire venue because it is convenient for their staff to complete the FAW Requalification within a short travel distance.
