The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher — also known as the FAW Requalification — is a 2-day training course for learners whose FAW certificate is due to expire. By completing this First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Hampshire, you can renew your Level 3 FAW qualification for a further three years.
Instead of repeating the full three-day programme, this refresher is focused on updating your knowledge and giving you structured time to practise essential first aid skills under the guidance of an assessor. It also helps you remain compliant with current Health and Safety Executive (HSE) expectations.
This 2-day First Aid at Work renewal course is only suitable for learners who already hold a valid FAW certificate. To avoid needing to retake the full 3-day First Aid at Work course, you should book your place before your current qualification expires.
A 28-day grace period applies after expiry. If your certificate has expired for longer than this, you will need to restart with the full FAW course.
To attend, you will need to bring proof of your in-date (or recently expired) FAW certificate on the first day of training in Hampshire.
By joining the FAW Requalification in Hampshire, you will revisit the full First Aid at Work syllabus again — keeping your knowledge current and ensuring your certificate remains valid. Over two days, you will practise the core skills and scenarios expected of workplace first aiders.
The First Aid at Work Refresher in Hampshire is assessed through practical demonstrations, trainer observation throughout the course, and a short multiple-choice test. This ensures you can apply the refreshed skills confidently and safely in workplace situations.
On successful completion, you will receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for another three years and recognised in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
It’s easy to confuse the annual refresher with the First Aid at Work Requalification. The annual refresher is a short session that helps you practise once a year and keep your confidence up, but it does not renew your certificate.
If your certificate is nearing expiry, you will need to complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the course that formally renews your First Aid at Work qualification for a further three years.
This 2-day FAW Refresher is aimed at qualified first aiders working in medium- to high-risk environments such as construction, manufacturing, warehousing, and larger office settings. It’s ideal for anyone who needs to renew their qualification on time and stay aligned with current HSE expectations.
If you’re renewing several staff members at once, arranging on-site training at your workplace can be the simplest option. A qualified trainer can deliver the full 2-day requalification course at your premises, so your team can refresh key skills together and keep disruption to a minimum.
On-site training offers several benefits:
Our Hampshire training venue is selected for accessibility, helping first aiders renew their FAW certificate over two days with minimal time lost to travel. It’s straightforward to reach by public transport, with rail and bus links nearby, and there are parking options for learners arriving by car.

The refresher runs over 2 days. Each day is typically around 6–7 hours, including breaks, making it shorter than the full 3-day First Aid at Work course.
It's for learners who already hold a valid FAW certificate or whose certificate has only recently expired (commonly within a short grace period, such as 28 days). You'll need to bring proof of your previous FAW certification on the day.
Yes. The course follows HSE guidance for renewing a First Aid at Work qualification and is delivered by approved, accredited trainers.
The assessment is practical and tutor-led, including observed first aid scenarios and a short multiple-choice test to confirm you can apply the skills confidently.
On successful completion, you’ll receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate that’s recognised across the UK and is valid for 3 years.
An annual refresher is a short, recommended session to help you practise key skills during the 3-year validity period. It does not renew your certificate. The 2-day FAW refresher is the course that requalifies you for a further 3 years.
The refresher revisits the full FAW syllabus, including CPR and AED, recovery position, choking, bleeding and shock, burns, fractures, head and spinal injuries, and common workplace illnesses such as heart attack, stroke, asthma, epilepsy, and diabetes.
Please bring your current or recently expired FAW certificate as eligibility evidence. We also recommend comfortable clothing, as the course includes hands-on practical sessions.
