The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, or FAW Requalification, is a concise 2-day course designed for individuals whose FAW certification is approaching its expiration. Completing the First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Reading will allow you to extend your Level 3 FAW qualification for an additional three years.
Unlike the comprehensive three-day course, the refresher focuses on refreshing your knowledge and giving you the opportunity to practice vital skills with guidance from an assessor. This course ensures you remain fully compliant with the latest Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
The 2-day First Aid at Work refresher course is available to individuals who currently hold a valid FAW certificate. To avoid the need to complete the full 3-day First Aid at Work course, we recommend booking your place before your certification expires.
A 28-day grace period is provided after your certificate expires. Should your certificate lapse beyond this period, you will be required to re-enrol in the full FAW course.
On the first day of training, please ensure you bring a copy of your valid or recently expired FAW certificate as proof of eligibility.
When you attend the FAW Requalification in Reading, you will revisit the entire First Aid at Work syllabus to ensure your skills and knowledge are current, allowing you to maintain your valid certificate. Over the two days, you will focus on practising key life-saving skills that are essential for all workplace first aiders.
The FAW Refresher in Reading is evaluated through a combination of practical exercises, instructor observation, and a brief multiple-choice test. This approach ensures that you can effectively demonstrate the refreshed skills gained during the course.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for another three years, and fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Many people confuse the annual refresher course with the First Aid at Work Requalification. While the annual refresher is a valuable course for practising your skills annually, it does not extend your certification.
If your FAW certificate is nearing expiry, you will need to complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the only official course that renews your First Aid at Work qualification for an additional three years.
The 2-day FAW Refresher course is ideal for designated first aiders working in medium to high-risk environments, such as construction sites, manufacturing plants, warehouses, and large office spaces. It is specifically designed for individuals who need to refresh their qualification to remain compliant with HSE regulations and keep their skills up to date.
If you have multiple staff members requiring FAW requalification, organising on-site training at your workplace might be a more practical solution. An accredited instructor can conduct the full 2-day requalification course directly at your location, enabling your team to refresh their skills collectively.
Opting for on-site training comes with several advantages:
The Reading training venue is centrally situated, providing a convenient location for first aiders needing to renew their FAW certificate. The venue is easily accessible by public transport, with nearby train and bus services, and ample parking is available for those arriving by car.
Learners regularly attend from Reading itself, as well as surrounding areas including Wokingham, Maidenhead, Slough, Bracknell, Newbury, Theale, and Didcot. Many businesses in these towns prefer the Reading venue due to its central location, making it an ideal choice for staff to complete the FAW Requalification with minimal travel time.
If you're interested in additional training options, we also offer a variety of first aid courses in Reading, including Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) for 1-day certification and Paediatric First Aid for those working with children.
