The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, also called the FAW Requalification, is a 2-day course designed for those whose FAW certificate is nearing expiry. Completing this First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Northern Ireland allows you to renew your Level 3 FAW qualification for an additional three years.
Unlike the full three-day FAW course, this refresher is tailored to update your existing knowledge and give you hands-on practice with essential first aid skills under the guidance of a qualified assessor. The course ensures you remain fully compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards while refreshing your competence in workplace first aid.
The 2-day First Aid at Work Refresher in Northern Ireland is specifically for learners who already hold a valid FAW certificate. To maintain continuity and avoid repeating the full three-day FAW course, it’s best to book your place before your current qualification expires.
There is a short 28-day grace period after your certificate expires. If your qualification has lapsed beyond this period, you will need to complete the full FAW course to regain certification.
On the first day of the refresher, please bring your current or recently expired FAW certificate as proof of eligibility.

The FAW Refresher in Northern Ireland is evaluated through a combination of practical demonstrations, trainer observation, and a short multiple-choice quiz. This approach ensures you can confidently demonstrate the first aid skills you’ve refreshed throughout the course.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three more years and fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
