The SSSTS Refresher Course is designed for site supervisors who are currently working in a supervisory role and need to renew their CITB SSSTS certificate.

Entry Requirements for the SSSTS Refresher Course

To qualify for the SSSTS Refresher course, you must:

  • Be able to read, write, and understand English well.
  • Have a valid SSSTS certificate. (This course must be completed before your current certificate expires.)
  • Have a valid form of identification, like a passport or driving licence.

Entry Requirements for the SSSTS Refresher Course Online

If you choose to take the SSSTS Refresher Course Online via Zoom, you'll also need a PC or laptop with a microphone, webcam, and a reliable internet connection.

SSSTS Refresher Test

The SSSTS Refresher includes a 30-minute exam with 22 multiple-choice and three short-answer questions. To pass, you need a score of 80% (24 out of 30). The exam includes four safety-critical questions, which must all be answered correctly to pass.

In the last 10 minutes, you can use your course materials and notes to assist with your answers.

Resiting Your SSSTS Refresher Exam

In the rare event that you fail the SSSTS Refresher exam with a score between 70%–77% (21, 22, or 23 out of 30) or pass the 80% requirement but fail the safety-critical questions, you may re-sit the exam.

However, if your score is below 67% (20 correct answers out of 30), you must retake the full SSSTS Refresher course before being allowed to re-sit the exam.

Those who pass the SSSTS Refresher course will receive a five-year CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme certificate (SSSTS Refresher). The qualification must be renewed every five years through the SSSTS Refresher course.

Remember, it is essential to complete the refresher before your certificate expires, or you will have to retake the full course.

Can I Apply for a CITB Grant?

Yes, this course is eligible for a CITB grant claim, so make sure to provide your CITB number on the booking form, or ask your employer for the number you should use.
