In-house training: Host the course at your workplace for a group of employees.
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, sometimes referred to as the FAW Requalification, is a two-day training programme designed for those whose certificate is nearing its expiry date. By attending the First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Belfast, you’ll extend your Level 3 FAW qualification for a further three years.
Instead of repeating the full three-day course, this condensed version provides an opportunity to refresh your understanding, practise key first aid techniques, and stay aligned with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards. The course is delivered with hands-on practice under the guidance of a qualified trainer.
The two-day First Aid at Work Refresher course in Belfast is open to learners who already hold a valid FAW certificate. To make sure you don’t have to repeat the full three-day programme, it’s recommended that you book your place before your qualification runs out.
A short renewal window of 28 days applies after your certificate has expired. If more time has passed, you’ll be required to enrol again on the full FAW course from the start.
All participants must bring proof of their valid or recently expired FAW certificate on the first day of the refresher training.
During the FAW Refresher in Belfast, you’ll revisit the First Aid at Work syllabus to ensure your skills remain sharp and entirely up to date. Across two days, you’ll receive guided practice in the techniques and knowledge essential for acting as a competent workplace first aider.
During the First Aid at Work Refresher in Belfast, you’ll be assessed through a combination of hands-on demonstrations, trainer evaluation, and a short written quiz. This approach ensures that you can apply your refreshed knowledge and skills with confidence.
After completing the training, you’ll be awarded a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate. This qualification is valid for three years and is fully recognised under Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
Many people confuse the annual refresher with the two-day requalification course, but they serve different purposes. The annual refresher is a brief session designed to keep your skills active through regular practice, although it doesn’t extend the validity of your certificate.
If your certificate is approaching its expiry, the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) is required. Completing this course is the only way to formally renew your First Aid at Work qualification for another three years.
The FAW Refresher in Belfast is suitable for designated first aiders working in environments where risks are greater, such as warehouses, construction sites, manufacturing facilities, and larger office settings. It’s designed for those who need to renew their qualification to stay compliant with HSE guidelines and continue acting as a trained workplace first aider.
For employers in Belfast with several staff due for renewal, arranging on-site training can be a practical solution. A qualified instructor can deliver the full two-day FAW Requalification at your premises, enabling your team to refresh their knowledge together in a familiar working environment.
Choosing on-site training gives you a number of advantages:
The Belfast training venue is centrally located, making it straightforward for first aiders renewing their FAW certificate to attend the 2-day course with minimal disruption. The venue is well-connected by public transport, with Great Victoria Street Station and Lanyon Place Station nearby, along with frequent Metro and Ulsterbus services. Parking options are also available nearby for those travelling by car.
Learners regularly join us not just from Belfast itself but also from surrounding towns, including Lisburn, Newtownabbey, Holywood, Carrickfergus, Bangor, and Dundonald. Many workplaces in these areas choose the Belfast venue as a convenient and accessible location for their staff to complete the FAW Requalification.
Alongside the FAW Refresher, we also run a variety of other first aid training options in Belfast. These include the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course for basic workplace certification, as well as Paediatric First Aid for those caring for children.
