What Is the First Aid at Work Refresher (Requalification)?
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, also known as the FAW Requalification, is a focused 2-day course for individuals whose FAW certification is nearing expiry. Completing the First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Wrexham will renew your Level 3 FAW qualification for another three years.
Unlike the full three-day First Aid at Work course, the refresher course is designed to refresh your knowledge and offer a chance to practice essential life-saving skills under the guidance of an experienced assessor. This course ensures you remain fully compliant with the latest Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
✅ This course is available if your FAW certificate is still valid or if it is within the 28-day grace period after expiry.
Eligibility & When to Book
This 2-day First Aid at Work Refresher course is available exclusively to individuals who currently hold a valid FAW certificate. We recommend booking your spot before your certification expires to prevent the need to take the full 3-day First Aid at Work course again.
A 28-day grace period is allowed after your certificate expires. If more than 28 days have passed, you will need to complete the full FAW course to requalify.
On the first day of the course, please bring a copy of your valid or recently expired FAW certificate as proof of eligibility.
What Will You Refresh/Practice During the Course?
By attending the FAW Requalification course in Wrexham, you’ll review the full First Aid at Work syllabus—ensuring your knowledge stays current and your certification remains valid. Over two days, you’ll practice the core skills required for every workplace first aider.

- Providing care for shock, burns, scalds, and treating minor injuries
- Recognising and treating anaphylaxis using auto-injectors

Assessment & Certification
The First Aid at Work Refresher in Wrexham is assessed through a combination of practical demonstrations, trainer observation, and a brief multiple-choice exam. This ensures that you are fully capable of applying the skills you've refreshed throughout the course.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate, valid for an additional three years and recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Annual Refresher vs This 2-Day FAW Requalification
Many people confuse the annual refresher with the First Aid at Work Requalification course. The annual refresher is a brief course to practice your skills each year, but it does not renew your certificate.
If your certificate is nearing expiry, you must complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the only course that officially renews your First Aid at Work qualification for another three-year period.
Who Is the Course For?
This 2-day FAW Refresher is aimed at appointed first aiders working in medium- to high-risk environments, such as construction sites, factories, warehouses, and large offices. It is intended for those who need to maintain their qualification and stay compliant with HSE regulations.
