What Is the First Aid at Work Refresher (Requalification)?
The First Aid at Work (FAW) Refresher, or FAW Requalification, is a comprehensive 2-day course for those whose FAW certification is approaching expiry. By completing this First Aid at Work Refresher Course in Staffordshire, you will extend your Level 3 FAW qualification for an additional three years.
While the full 3-day FAW course provides an in-depth foundation, the refresher is focused on reinforcing critical first aid knowledge and giving you the opportunity to refresh and practice vital first aid skills with an experienced instructor. This course also helps ensure that you remain compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
✅ This course is open to those holding a valid FAW certificate or those within the 28-day grace period after their certification has expired.
Eligibility and Booking Information
The 2-day First Aid at Work Refresher course is designed for individuals who currently hold a valid FAW certificate. To avoid having to take the full 3-day FAW course again, we recommend securing your spot before your certification expires.
A 28-day grace period is granted once your certificate expires. If more than 28 days have passed since your certification ended, you will need to re-register for the complete FAW course.
On the first day of your training, please bring a copy of your valid or recently expired FAW certificate for verification purposes.
What Will You Refresh and Practise During the Course?

Assessment and Certification
Throughout the First Aid at Work Refresher course in Staffordshire, you will undergo assessments that include practical exercises, direct observation from the trainer, and a short multiple-choice exam. These assessments ensure you are able to confidently apply your refreshed skills in real-world emergency situations.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a renewed Level 3 First Aid at Work certificate. This certificate is valid for three years and is fully recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Annual Refresher vs 2-Day FAW Requalification
There is often confusion between the annual refresher and the FAW Requalification course. The annual refresher is a shorter session designed to help you maintain your first aid skills, but it does not extend the validity of your certificate.
If your FAW certificate is approaching its expiry date, you must complete the 2-day FAW Refresher (Requalification) course. This is the only course that officially renews your First Aid at Work qualification for an additional three years.
Who Should Take This Course?
The 2-day FAW Refresher course is ideal for individuals working in environments with medium to high-risk factors who need to update their First Aid at Work certification. This includes professionals in industries such as construction, warehousing, manufacturing, and large office environments. The course is designed for first aiders tasked with ensuring workplace safety and complying with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.
