When you sign up for this qualification, we'll ask you to fill out a form that helps our team assess your background and determine if this diploma is the right fit for you. Since it's a work-based qualification, you'll need to compile a portfolio of evidence that showcases your abilities and accomplishments. More on this would come later on this page.
No, unfortunately, you can't complete this NVQ online. Once you sign up for the course, an assessor will be assigned to you. Their role is to make sure you're meeting the intended learning outcomes. They'll come to your workplace and observe you in action, actually performing your job. They may also have informal discussions with you to assess your understanding of the tasks at hand. If you're confident in your craft and have been doing it for a while, this shouldn't pose any problem for you. It's just a way for them to ensure that you're really mastering the skills required for the qualification.
To enrol on this qualification, there are a few requirements to consider:
Here's what else we'll need from you:
Honestly, there's no set time frame for finishing this qualification. It all depends on how quickly you can put together a portfolio of work-based evidence. You'll have an assessor by your side, guiding you every step of the way and making sure you achieve the learning outcomes. Usually, most learners are able to complete this NVQ within 12 weeks.
This is a competence-based qualification, which means you'll have a dedicated assessor working with you at your workplace. That's why this course can't be done online – both you and your assessor need to be in the same location. As said earlier, the first step is filling out a form where your basic understanding will be evaluated based on the information you provide. The assessor will make sure any learning gaps are addressed before you continue with the qualification.
Once you're enrolled, your assessor will have a list of learning outcomes for each unit. They'll be there to guide you every step of the way. After you complete each assignment, the assessor will provide you with valuable feedback. As long as you're open to adapting, learning, and improving based on their feedback, you won't find it troublesome at all.
The portfolio of evidence that you’d be asked to produce can come in any of the following forms:
- Observation Report By Assessor
- Assignments/Projects/Reports
- Professional Discussion
- Witness Testimony
- Candidate Product
- Worksheets
- Record Of Oral And Written Questioning
- Recognition Of Prior Learning
