The Level 3 Diploma in Cladding Occupations is a work-based qualification that requires you to already be employed as a cladder for roof and wall sheeting or rainscreen wall cladding system. This is a competence-based qualification and does not involve conventional training or webinars to pass on the knowledge component. Instead, after signing up for the course, an assessor is assigned to you who will help you connect to a suitable pathway and provide you with constructive feedback to learn, improve, and adapt to the changing industry standards.
This diploma is designed to help you showcase your skills and expertise in your field and gain national recognition for your craft. Upon graduation, you will receive a certificate from ProQual. Additionally, this qualification also qualifies you to apply for a CSCS Gold Supervisor Card.
We offer two different pathways, and our goal is to assist you in selecting the one that aligns with your experience and career aspirations. Regardless of the pathway you choose, there are mandatory units that you must successfully complete. However, you'll have the opportunity to choose from optional units, and if needed, you can seek the assessor's guidance to help you finalise your decision. The pathways offered are:
Roof and Wall Sheeting and Cladding
Rainscreen Wall Cladding Systems
Once you enrol on the qualification, an experienced assessor will work with you to determine the specialised pathway that best suits your interests and skills. As part of this process, you will be required to fill out a form that provides information about your previous experience. The assessor will ensure that any gaps in your knowledge are addressed before you proceed with the diploma programme.
This qualification paves the way for you to acquire a widely recognised CSCS Gold Supervisor Card in the construction industry. The construction industry in the UK is aiming to have a 100% CSCS certified workforce, which will significantly broaden the scope of opportunities available to you after you graduate. This diploma has been accredited onto the Regulated Quality Framework (RQF).
Here's what you need to do to earn a CSCS Gold Card and become a supervisor in the construction industry:
1. Successfully complete the relevant qualification (such as the Level 3 Diploma in Cladding Occupations).
2. Pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test (Specialists Test).
3. Apply for the CSCS Gold Card directly through an online portal by uploading the necessary documents or by phone. Expect to receive your CSCS card within 3-5 working days after the initial approval.
This qualification is competence-based, and it’s mandatory for you to be physically present at the same location as your assessor. Therefore, it cannot be completed online. Your assessor will observe you performing your job and provide feedback on the completed assignments. You will compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your skills, and the assessor will evaluate you against standardised criteria.
There are no formal academic requirements to enrol on this qualification. You can pursue it regardless of your academic background, but you must have access to a workplace where you can perform tasks and produce a portfolio of evidence.
An initial assessment will be conducted to verify that you have some experience in the field. If you do, you will be guided to follow a pathway that aligns with your previous experience.
There’s no strict age requirements but it’s still advisable that you’re at least 19 years old since it qualifies you for a supervisory role. And, it’s good to have some experience under your belt to supervise operations in the construction industry.
Giving an exact timeframe for this NVQ wouldn't be fair because it's not a typical course with a fixed number of hours to attend in order to pass the diploma. Instead, it assesses your ability to perform your job effectively on-site. That's why the sooner you can provide evidence of your work, the sooner you can pass. However, on average, learners usually take around 10-12 weeks to complete this qualification.
An initial assessment will be conducted to ensure that you have the necessary skills to pursue this diploma. An experienced assessor will be assigned to you, who will assist you in addressing any learning gaps, if identified. Following this assessment, the assessor will propose a personalised assessment plan tailored to your learning preferences.
Since this qualification is based on practical work experience, you won't be required to allocate additional time for assessments. Instead, you can compile a portfolio of evidence while carrying out your regular job duties. This evidence can take various forms, such as:
- Assignments/Projects/Reports
- Worksheets
- Portfolio Of Evidence
- Record Of Oral And/Or Written Questioning
- Candidate Test Papers
