The one-day PASMA Combined Tower & Low-Level Access training course teaches participants how to safely build, adjust, move, inspect, and dismantle mobile access towers and low-level scaffolds. Limited to eight participants, the course covers equipment that meets relevant safety standards and is suitable for both types of equipment. This course must be completed before advancing to more specialised PASMA training. It addresses laws, hazards, and proper procedures for working at height, helping participants efficiently earn their PASMA certification.
After finishing the theory training, you will take a multiple-choice test and must score at least 80% to pass. If you pass, you will move on to the practical assessment, where you'll build a mobile access tower using the 3T method (through the trap) and the advanced guardrail (AGR) method.
If you complete the theory and practical assessments, you will receive a PASMA Certificate and Photocard, valid for five years.
Learners will gain a foundational understanding of what mobile access towers and low-level access equipment are, including their types, uses, and applications in various work environments. They will learn about the benefits of using these tools for working at height and the importance of selecting the right equipment for specific tasks.
This section will cover Work at Height's legal framework, focusing on the Work at Height Regulations 2005. Learners will understand their obligations under the law, including risk assessments, safety measures, and the roles of employers and employees in ensuring safe practices when working at height.
Participants will explore essential health and safety procedures, including risk identification, safe work practices planning, and emergency protocols. They will learn how to create a safe working environment and the importance of ongoing safety training and communication among team members.
This topic will inform learners about relevant British and European mobile access towers and low-level equipment standards. They will learn how these standards ensure safety, quality, and performance and how to apply them in real-world situations.
Learners will study the PASMA Code of Practice, which provides guidelines for the safe use of mobile access towers. They will understand the principles of good practice outlined in the code, including risk management, maintenance procedures, and user responsibilities.
Participants will learn about the various components of mobile access towers and their functions. They will also cover routine maintenance practices, including inspecting equipment for wear and tear and ensuring that all components are safe and functional before use.
This section will focus on the importance of keeping accurate tower inspection records. Learners will understand how to document inspections, what information needs to be included, and how maintaining these records contributes to safety and compliance with regulations.
Participants will explore different types of low-level access units and podiums, their uses, and how they differ from mobile access towers. They will learn the specific safety considerations and best practices for using these units in various work scenarios.
Learners will receive detailed instruction on the two key methods for assembling and dismantling mobile access towers: Advanced Guardrail (AGR) and 3T (Through the Trap) methods. They will gain hands-on experience in using both methods safely and effectively.
This topic will cover the principles of tower stability, including how to properly secure and tie in mobile access towers. Learners will understand how to assess site conditions and ensure that towers remain stable during use, preventing accidents.
