The Level 2 Diploma in Plastering is for you if you want to enhance your skills in Plastering. With four different pathways, you can select the one that matches your interests and career aspirations. The diploma is endorsed by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and regulated by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which means that it has national recognition and will enable you to work as a plasterer anywhere in the UK.
The qualification takes you on a journey that starts with the basics of maintaining health and safety standards at a construction site. First, you'll cover three mandatory units, regardless of the pathway you choose to specialise in. After that, you will pick any of the four pathways to achieve your goals.
Throughout the qualification, you'll learn various topics related to plastering techniques. You'll also learn how to produce solid plastering finishes, repair and maintain solid plasterwork, and explore heritage plastering. In addition, you'll gain insights into the different methods used for solid and fibrous plastering.
As this is a Level 2 certification, it makes you eligible to pursue a CSCS Blue Card, which can significantly boost your career opportunities within the construction sector.
Three mandatory units in this programme remain the same across all pathways. The funnel gradually narrows down to guide you towards a specific skill set. Below are the various routes that you can choose from:
Pathway 1 - NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plastering (Solid)
Pathway 2 - NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plastering (Fibrous)
Pathway 3 - NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plastering (Heritage Plastering - Solid)
Pathway 4 - NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plastering (Heritage Plastering - Fibrous)
Applying solid plaster differs from fibrous plaster, so each pathway teaches you how to be an expert in one area. So, you get to learn exactly what you need to know for your chosen pathway.
Those who want to obtain the CSCS Blue Card and become plasterers.
Tradespeople, including carpenters, plumbers and electricians, who want to expand their skill set.
DIY enthusiasts who want to learn plastering skills and achieve professional results regarding plastering walls and ceilings.
You'll be assessed at your workplace. A qualified assessor will be assigned to you, and they'll help you design a personalised assessment plan. This will ensure that you're assessed in a way that suits your learning style. You could be asked questions orally, given worksheets to complete, have someone provide testimony about your work, or even be assessed on your prior learning experiences. It all depends on what's most appropriate for your situation.
Also, you must create a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate that you have obtained all the relevant knowledge and have achieved all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit
Evidence can include:
Observation report by the assessor
Assignments/projects/reports
Professional discussion
Witness testimony
Candidate product
Worksheets
Record of oral and written questioning
Recognition of Prior Learning
After successfully completing all the units required for the qualification, you'll receive two certificates.
The first one will recognise your achievement in passing all the units.
The second one will feature the full title of the qualification - Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Construction).
