The one-day PASMA Towers on Stairs course combines hands-on practice with classroom learning to teach you how to safely assemble, adjust, inspect, use, and take down mobile access towers. With a maximum of eight participants per course, you will have plenty of chances to ask questions and get support. You should understand how to work at heights and the current PASMA Towers for Users PhotoCard. By the end of the day, you will receive a nationally recognised PASMA qualification, certificate, and ID, valid for five years.
Please note that the training focuses on mobile access towers made of aluminium alloy or GRP fibreglass, which meet the BS EN 1004: 2004 standard and have the appropriate safety marks.
Only those who have completed the PASMA Standard Tower or PASMA Combined Tower & Low-Level Access course within the last five years, have a valid certificate, and can provide proof can attend the Towers on Stairs training.
After finishing the theory training, you’ll take a multiple-choice test. If you pass, you’ll move on to the practical part, building a mobile access tower on a stairwell.
Students who pass the theory and practical assessments will receive the PASMA Certificate and Photocard, valid for five years.
Before signing up for this training, you must have completed the PASMA Tower for Users or PASMA Combined Tower and Low-Level Access course. You will need to show your Photo ID.
You should also feel confident working at heights and be physically able to complete the practical assessment on the day.

The unit will also cover routine maintenance practices to ensure the towers remain safe and functional, including checks for wear and tear and instructions on addressing any issues.

In this practical unit, you will be taught how to safely assemble and dismantle mobile access towers using advanced guardrail methods and the 3T (Through the Trap) method. You will practice these techniques to ensure safety during setup and takedown, understanding the key steps to prevent accidents.
Here, you will learn about ensuring tower stability, including tying the tower to structures when necessary. The unit will cover factors that affect stability, how to properly secure a tower, and techniques for assessing whether a tower is stable before use.
