Yes, you must hold a valid Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, or an accepted equivalent, before the course begins. If you don't already hold one, First Aid can be added to your booking. Any qualification you already have needs at least 12 months remaining.
The course can be taken from age 16 onwards. That said, you must reach 18 before you're able to apply for an SIA licence.
Assessment consists of 3 multiple choice exams together with practical assessments. The theory exams have 72, 60 and 20 questions respectively, each requiring a 70% pass mark.
