There are many benefits to taking a QCF course, no matter your situation. For example, studying for a QCF qualification can help you gain valuable skills and experience if you&#8217;re unemployed and looking for work.<\/p><p>The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) is a new system that replaces the National Qualification Framework (NQF). It works by giving credits for different qualifications and units.<\/p><p>Each unit has a set number of credits, which can be transferred, allowing you to earn qualifications at your own pace. Regulators manage the system in England (Ofqual), Wales (DCELLS), and Northern Ireland (CCEA).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d16a29 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7d16a29\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>The Old Frameworks (QCF &amp; NVQ)<\/strong><\/h2><p><strong>NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications)<\/strong><\/p><p>NVQs were qualifications that showed you had the skills needed for a particular job. You earned an NVQ by showing you could do specific tasks at work, usually through a portfolio of your work and observation by an <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><a style=\"color: #3366ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/hurak.com\/blog\/what-is-an-assessor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assessor<\/a>.<\/span> There were eight levels in NVQs:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Level 1:<\/strong> Basic workplace skills<\/li><li><strong>Level 8:<\/strong> Management level<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework)<\/strong><\/p><p>The QCF was introduced in 2008 to replace the NVQ system. It made understanding and comparing qualifications from different areas and schools easier. The QCF focused on the difficulty of a qualification and how many credits it was worth.<\/p><ul><li><strong>Award:<\/strong> 1-12 credits<\/li><li><strong>Certificate:<\/strong> 13-36 credits<\/li><li><strong>Diploma:<\/strong> 37+ credits<\/li><\/ul><p>QCF courses were more flexible and quicker than NVQ courses, allowing learners to work independently.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b7d92a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b7d92a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>What is the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF)?<\/strong><\/h2><p>The <strong>Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)<\/strong> is a system that makes it easier to earn qualifications by awarding credits for different units. It replaced the older National Qualification Framework (NQF). Each unit you complete has a certain number of credits, and these credits can be transferred, giving you the ability to earn qualifications at your own pace. Three regulators manage the QCF:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Ofqual<\/strong> in England<\/li><li><strong>DCELLS<\/strong> in Wales<\/li><li><strong>CCEA<\/strong> in Northern Ireland<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4fb9b88 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4fb9b88\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>QCF Levels: How Does the QCF System Work?<\/h3><p>The QCF system is based on <strong>units<\/strong> with a credit value and <strong>level<\/strong>. These levels range from <strong>Entry Level <\/strong>to<strong> Level 8<\/strong> (the highest).<\/p><ul><li><strong>1 credit<\/strong> = about <strong>10 learning hours.<\/strong><br \/>This means you can estimate how much time you\u2019ll need to complete your qualification.<\/li><\/ul><p>You can earn three types of qualifications through the QCF:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Awards<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Certificates<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Diplomas<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-55ea186 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"55ea186\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>QCF Credit Value: How Are Credit Points Awarded?<\/h3><ul><li>You need 1 to 12 credits to earn an Award, which equals <strong>10 to 120 hours<\/strong> of learning.<\/li><li>You need 13 to 26 credits or 130 to 260 hours to earn a certificate.<\/li><li>To earn a Diploma, you need <strong>37 credits<\/strong> or more, which means <strong>370 hours<\/strong> or more of learning.<\/li><\/ul><p>The QCF system measures the <strong>size<\/strong> of the qualification, not its difficulty. They:<\/p><ul><li>Develop and approve units and qualifications<\/li><li>Maintain a <strong>unit databank<\/strong><\/li><li>Monitor the organisations that offer QCF qualifications to ensure quality<\/li><\/ul><p>This helps ensure that every qualification awarded through the QCF meets the proper standards.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ea3a28c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ea3a28c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>The New System (RQF)<\/strong><\/h2><p><strong>RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework)<\/strong><br \/>The RQF replaced the QCF in 2015. It still classifies qualifications based on how difficult they are and how much learning they need. But now, there are no strict deadlines to finish your qualification so you can work through it at your own pace.<\/p><p>The RQF also allows more freedom for schools and organisations to update and improve their courses.
